Honestly, I really can't get any others airlines better than AirAsia (in term of value).
FYI, Malaysia Airlines will cost you double but different service level.
Finally, I bought our AirAsia X flights on 13 Oct 2010 which is 9 months away. "A long journey of time in a way of short visit".

It's a PROMO tickets, check the breakdown below
1. Flight - RM300
2. Airport Tax - RM95
3. AirAsia Insure Return (1-10 days) - RM29
4. Convenience Fee - RM10
5. Pick A Seat - RM50
6. Regular - up to 15kg (Go)- RM17.14
7. Medium - up to 20kg (Return) - RM50
Total = RM 551.14
I don't consider this is cheap but reasonable.
If you take other airlines will easily cost you RM1000 above for both ways
It is very subjective how you want your travel to be (Low, Medium or Luxury).
Of course, we are "Medium" .. Haha
